Call for Entries: RIBAJ Eye Line 2018 _ Deadline: Tuesday 12th June

We want to see your best architectural images. This year there’s a new category for practitioners and a link with the RIBA’s world-famous Drawings Collection

Eye Line, the RIBA Journal’s acclaimed an­nual award for architectural image-making skills, is now open for 2018 entries. Once again we are delighted to be in partnership with ar­chitectural visualisation experts AVR Lon­don. As ever, Eye Line is free to enter online.

Judging: 28 June

Please Support Galaxia the Temple for Burning Man 2018 Campaign

In December 2017 it was announced that Arthur Mamou-Mani’s project Galaxia won the Burning Man 2018 Temple Design Competition.

Galaxia is the temple for Burning Man 2018. It celebrates hope in the unknown, stars, planets, black holes, the movement uniting us in swirling galaxies of dreams. A superior form of Gaia in Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series, Galaxia is the ultimate network, the fabric of the universe connecting living beings into one entity. Galaxia is shaped of 20 timber trusses converging as a spiral towards one point in the sky.

The triangular trusses form different paths towards a central space holding a giant 3D printed mandala, the heart of Galaxia. The timber modules start large enough to hold small alcoves in which people can write in peace. As participants walk through the path, the timber modules lift up and become thinner and thinner towards the sky as people reach the central mandala.

Arthur Mamou-Mani is a MArch DS10 studio leader and tutor (alongside Toby Burgess) and the director of architecture practice Mamou-Mani Ltd. He is also a lecturer at the UCL-Bartlett and owns a digital fabrication laboratory called Fab.Pub.

In November he was selected as one of RIBA J’s Rising Stars for 2017.

Congratulations to Arthur Mamou-Mani, the director of Mamou-Mani Architects and an MArch DS10 tutor who has been selected as one of the RIBA Journal‘s Rising Stars 2017!

The winning Cohort 2017 has been selected from 16 shortlisted architects, all of whom have qualified professionally within the last 10 years.

This year’s award includes many young practices as well as architects who moved into project management, diversified into digital fabrication or took up charity work. While no one would advocate another financial crisis, it is often said that they breed creativity and spur on new thinking. The 2017 Rising Stars cohort is a testament to that. Let’s see where they take it over the next 10 years. (RIBA Journal)

DS10 Tutor and Practitioner Arthur Mamou-Mani on RIBA J’s Rising Stars Shortlist!

Congratulations to Arthur Mamou-Mani, the director of Mamou-Mani Architects and a DS10 tutor, who has been shortlisted by the RIBA Journal in the first round for its Rising Star award in association with Origin Doors and Windows.

The shortlist consists of 16 practitioners, all within 10 years of qualifying as Part II architect.

The winning cohort will be profiled on ribaj.com from 25th to 30th October.

Eye Line 2017 Competition: Deadline 12th June

Organised by RIBAJ in partnership with the architectural visualisation expert AVR, the Eye Line competition is celebrating its fifth year anniversary. This prize is all about architectural drawing, not the project – originating in any medium or combination of media, from anywhere in the world! The entries are welcome from both students and practitioners, so make sure you get your best work out and apply now!
