RIBA Student Support Fund | Deadline: Friday, December 3, 2021 at 12pm (GMT)

The RIBA Student Support Fund is now open for the Autumn 2021 round of applications!

Students enrolled in RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 courses in the UK and experiencing financial hardship can apply for a bursary of up to £3,000. Guidance notes and application details are available on the RIBA website.

The deadline to apply is 12pm on Friday 3 December 2021.

By the end of December, RIBA will have supported approximately 100 students and researchers by allocating just over £290,000 in scholarships, bursaries, and grants, the highest amount ever awarded by the RIBA in a calendar year. RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 Bursaries open for applications | Deadline: Friday, May 28, 5PM GMT

The eligibility criteria:

RIBA Part 1 Bursary

To be eligible to apply for a RIBA Part 1 Bursary, students must currently be enrolled in the first year of a RIBA Part 1 course in the UK. Recipients of these bursaries will receive a maximum of £6,000 distributed in £1,000 termly instalments throughout the second and third years of study. Successful part-time applicants will receive the same maximum amount in payments proportionate to the length of studies.

RIBA Part 2 Bursary

To be eligible to apply for a RIBA Part 2 Bursary, students must be in the process of applying for a RIBA Part 2 course in the UK beginning in September 2021. Proof of enrolment will be required before the bursary is paid to successful applicants. 

Recipients of these bursaries will receive a maximum of £6,000 distributed in £1,000 termly instalments throughout the course of the Part 2. Successful part-time applicants will receive the same maximum amount in payments proportionate to the length of studies.

The deadline to apply (for both bursaries) is 5pm on Friday 28 May 2021.

The RIBA Student Support Fund – Autumn 2020 Application Cycle is now openThe full details including guidance notes and application form can be found on the RIBA website here.

The purpose of the RIBA Student Support Fund is to alleviate financial hardship for students of architecture enrolled in RIBA Part 1 and 2 courses in the UK. Applications are welcomed from students who have encountered recent financial barriers during their studies and would benefit from assistance to successfully complete the academic year. Students may apply for a maximum bursary of £3,000 in this application cycle.

The deadline to apply is 5pm on Friday 27 November 2020.

The WCCA Drawing Prize 2020 The Jonathan and Victoria Ball Award | Deadline: Friday, June 26, 2020 at 6.00pm

The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects is offering drawing prizes to students from the London Schools of Architecture.

The aim is to encourage excellence in traditional drawing, but computer generated images will also be considered. Both RIBA Part 1 and RIBA Part 2 Students are invited to submit drawings on behalf of their School. The first prize is £300, with a runner up of £150, in each category.

SA+C MArch students’ work at Blueprint for the Future _ 9-11 July, Senator Showroom in Clerkenwell

Blueprint for the Future is a free, three-day showcase of the work of the brightest, most interesting and challenging architecture students graduating Part II across London and the UK, as selected by Blueprint Magazine.

Blueprint Magazine has paired 13 leading architecture schools with 13 international design brands, resulting in a ‘trail’ of exhibitions held over three days (9, 10, 11 July), in showrooms across Clerkenwell, London’s beating heart of design.

Works of MArch students from the School of Architecture and Cities are showcased at Senator Showroom in Clerkenwell.

This event is free.

RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship _ Deadline: Thursday, June 27, 17:00

In 2007, Mrs Margot Auger donated a sum of money to the RIBA in memory of her late husband, the architect and civil engineer Boyd Auger, to create a funding scheme that would support and reward architecture students and graduates.

This became the RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship; a £5,000 scholarship which aims to assist with closely defined research proposals by architecture students and graduates lasting between 6 and 12 months, which involve carefully planned and budgeted periods of international travel. The scholarship can also support graduates in a period of international work experience, but the emphasis should be on the opportunity to travel in the chosen location.

We are pleased to confirm that in 2019, the RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship has been increased to £6,000.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • be enrolled in a RIBA Part 1, 2 or 3 course in the UK or overseas, or
  • have been granted a place of study in a RIBA Part 2 course by the beginning of the period covered by the scholarship, or
  • have graduated from a RIBA Part 1 or 2 course within the past 5 years

2019 RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships – DEADLINE EXTENDED to Monday, June 10, 9am

To be eligible to apply for the RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships, applicants must:

  • have graduated from a RIBA Part 1 professional qualification course in Architecture in a higher education institution in the UK, and
  • at the time of application, be enrolled in a RIBA Part 2 professional qualification course in Architecture in a higher education institution in the UK and be starting the final year in September 2019

There are five Wren scholarships worth £6,000 each available in the 2019 application cycle.

Alma-nac is looking for an architectural assistant to join its team in London.

Alma-nac is an award-winning London based design studio committed to producing high quality architecture whilst maintaining a lively and engaging work environment. They undertake a range of projects of varying scale and sector and are currently looking for an experienced architectural assistant to join their team.

Candidates should possess the following:

  • a minimum of one year professional experience
  • detailing, construction and preferably job running experience on small to medium projects
  • excellent 3D modelling skills – physical and digital
  • exceptional presentation skills
  • Archicad experience preferable but not essential
  • fluent spoken and written English
  • ability to manage workloads under time pressure

Candidates should be confident to:

  • manage the day to day running of a small project under supervision
  • communicate design issues and solutions directly to clients
  • liaise with consultants and local authorities
  • assist in general practice management

Above all they are looking for someone with a grounded creative approach and a strong attention to construction detail.
