The Applied Animation module is designed to build on the study of three-dimensional modelling and computational design explored in the preceding Programming and Computational Design module. The Applied Animation module capitalises on the particular potential afforded by contemporary animation software to simulate material qualities and behaviours, including the interaction of physical objects and complex mechanical or composite systems. Through the use of advanced rendering and animation, the aim of this module is to introduce and investigate both the representational and the filmic qualities of animation. Particular emphasis is placed on the creative opportunities presented by such simulations to generate design content and productively inform the design process.
